Clare Weatherill
Having taught for many years I feel very lucky that I now have both the time and the opportunity to enjoy my lifelong hobby and develop my painting.
I first started water colour as a young girl in the back garden with a family friend who was passionate about his painting. After studying art at school my next opportunity to paint came in Egypt and later in Scotland when my children were small.
Twenty years have elapsed and now I paint at every opportunity. My chosen medium is water colour but I also love pastels and mixed media. I always carry a sketch book and work with pen and wash and latterly charcoal to sketch. As I cycle around I find the river and the buildings such an inspiration and my work has moved from still life to working en plein air and trying to catch the wonderful sights and buildings in London. I also love to paint in rural situations and love buildings in the landscape.
I have exhibited and sold paintings in local exhibitions and now with my own studio at home
I love to paint as often as I can. I have recently received several commissions to paint both private houses, churches and public buildings.
