Dee Platt

I have been semi-retired for the last few years which has enabled me to attend a small, local watercolour group. I am mostly self-taught; however, the other members of the group, most with art qualifications, have mentored and encouraged me on my steep learning curve. Already I have paintings in America, Japan and New Zealand as well as in the U.K. I have always been a bit creative and now, rather late in life, I find I have more time to enjoy art.

I have become a member of the Society of Fulham Artists and Potters and through them I have displayed my works at their spring and autumn exhibitions and attended some of their amazing workshops. I have also exhibited at The Lantern, Raynes Park and had a one-man exhibition in a Fulham doctors' surgery for a month.

As a complementary therapist for many years, I have learned a lot about colour and how it affects our moods and the influence it has on our body's health. I have a desire to create pictures that, not only do I enjoy working on, but are uplifting or create a special mood to the observer. My output so far has concentrated on landscapes, still life and wildlife, mostly in bright colours. Having attended and enjoyed recent workshops on pastels and oil painting I now want to also create some works in those media in the future.
