Greta Chaffer
Coming from the Caribbean (Trinidad & Tobago) with a Scottish grandfather, it is not surprising that my influence for colour derives from the Scottish Colourists, e.g. Peploe.
With a ballet training in England followed by a career in fashion, I am enjoying this part of my life exploring the different media and techniques in painting.
My given feeling is for oils, but using interpretation of shapes, colour and form, I am able to combine this in other media and enjoy the way materials embrace or reject each other.
This often acts as a starting point and determines the work. As DALI said, “If you dream - it MUST BE IN COLOUR…”
