Keith Tottem
Keith has painted on and off throughout a busy working life and used many tedious meetings to capture the faces and expressions around boardroom tables – a useful apprenticeship for his current focus on taking portrait commissions.
His portrait style is tightly-focussed and forceful, painted in oils, to produce unusually dramatic representations of the character and individuality of the sitter.
The same realism is brought into his paintings of Still Life, aiming to create maximum drama from unusual portrayals, sometimes almost trompe l’oeil.
Though retired, Keith is, in reality, fully occupied with developing the activities of the Roehampton Art Group, including art classes, exhibitions, art history lectures and visits to current exhibitions. He attends regular portrait and life classes at the Heatherley School of Fine Art.
