Sarah Rivett-Carnac
Born in Edinburgh in 1965, I read Geography at Edinburgh University before travelling and working in the Far East for 2 years. On return I moved to London and joined up with my oldest friend, jewellery designer, Amanda Skinner, and spent 11 years designing and making precious and semi-precious jewellery for private clients.
In 2004 I decided to pursue a long held desire to learn to paint and enrolled in a part-time oils course at The Heatherley School of Art in Chelsea, starting from scratch and loving every minute of capturing objects on canvas. In 2007 I moved to study under the artists Tony Rothon and Sarah Nutley in Kensington, before returning to Heatherleys again for the open studio in 2010.
What I find so interesting about painting is that the more I paint the more challenging it gets and I hope to evolve as an artist by attempting different techniques and tackling new subjects. Still life in oil has become the subject and medium I feel most at home with at present and I love to look at everyday objects in a new way.
